Rules & Guidelines

g e n e r a l   r u l e s   ✘

[FANDOM BASED]
This RPG is multi-fandom, which includes all series, not just animanga ones. The only restriction are "real" people, such as actors, band members, celebrities. All characters must come from an established fictional universe. Original characters/original series are not allowed.

[AGE LIMIT]
The age limit of this RPG is 14 years. If you are younger than 14 years, you may not participate. There are mature themes that will be present.

[MATURE CONTENT]
Material rated higher than PG-13 should be placed under an LJ-cut with appropriate warnings. This includes both writing and graphics. Mature content includes sexual situations, swearing, violence, etc. This RPG accepts all pairing and relationships, including yaoi/slash, yuri/femmslash, het, incest, and mature material provided there are due warnings.

HOWEVER: there should be no NC-17 writing here. Out of bounds: rape, excessive gore, explicit sex scenes. If you think something may be unfit for posting, consult a mod. Mods reserve the right to delete any content which does not follow these guidelines. Players are discouraged from using Livejournal's "mature content" screening option, and are only required to label their logs/threads appropriately.

[QUALITY OF PLAY]
Be mature. Don't use netspeak when posting, or spam journals/communities/chat. If you can't act like an adult, you'll be asked to leave. This is not a crack!rpg and should not be treated like one.

[RESPECT]
Players will be respectful to the moderators and fellow players. This includes harassment, dramaqueening, and flaming -- DON'T DO IT. Repeated instances of any of the above or other disruptive behaviour will result in the player being banned from the game.

[WARNING SYSTEM]
This game currently has a 3-strikes warning system. For each instance of players breaking the rules, there will be a warning issued by the moderators. If the player conduct rules are broken three times, then the player will be banned. Excessive disregard to the rules (examples: extreme harassment, bullying, etc.) will result in the three strikes system being pre-empted and immediate expulsion from the game.

[CONTROL]
NO GODMODDING/METAGAMING. Absolutely none. This includes controlling other characters, killing other characters, blowing up the world, anything like that. For a more detailed explanation, visit the FAQs. Disregarding this rule is grounds for a conduct warning.

[SOLICITATIONS]
Players will not solicit other players in their personal journals or in the game's communities. This includes surveys, petitions, and advertisements for other roleplay games unless specifically approved by the moderators.

[DISPUTES]
Players whom have disputes or issues regarding other players are to contact the moderators, either using the Mod Inbox post or by contacting the moderators directly via AIM or email. All moderator contact information can be found in the community profile. However, we expect players to help one another. As such, unless there is an extreme or blatant disregard for the rules, please be sure to remind one another of them in a polite and helpful manner. Moderators will not interfere with minor infractions.

[SIGN OFFS]
From time to time, the moderators will require all players to sign off on new additions or changes made in the game. This may include updating new rules, reminders, or other such instances which require players to be informed. These sign-offs are NOT optional.

[JOURNAL UPKEEP]
Players will try, to the best of their ability, to maintain their character journal(s) both at creation (joining the game) and throughout game play. This includes adding and removing new/old character journals regularly, posting to required core posts, and updating their profiles (if required by a moderator for OOC purposes). Additionally, we ask that no character journals be created with offensive or derogatory usernames. If in doubt, ask a moderator.

[MEMBER CHAT]
The AIM chatroom, econtra is to be used by current players only. No invitations to potential members, please.

[POSTING]
Characters should post to their journals preferably once every week (or more if you're so inclined), but a minimum of every two weeks. If you (as a player) have multiple characters, this rule applies PER CHARACTER. Also, players are expected to interact with other characters in threads and logs throughout each month in order to pass the activity checks issued. Characters who have not posted recently may be nudged using LJ's Nudge feature.

[ACTIVITY CHECKS]
There will be an activity check posted on the first of each month and running one week, encompassing all activity for the previous month. (Example: The activity check posted July 1st covers activity from June 1-June 31.) All players who are NOT on hiatus are expected to post to these checks with their character's last activity. Failure to do so without valid explanation can result in your character(s) being dropped from the game. Characters less than 10 days old at the time of posting may be excused from the check.

Players who fail to respond to an activity check, or who respond with insufficient activity without valid cause, will be given a warning. If they fail to respond to the following month's check, their characters will be dropped. No exceptions.

[PLAY WITH OTHERS]
Players should be advised that limiting their character interaction to self-RPing (with another character belonging to that same player) or to consistently closed logs may not be considered sufficient activity. Players are encouraged to post "open" threads for other characters to join and interact with others. Likewise, characters should not interact solely with those from their own fandom/series. Finally, journal entries should not be continually directed/screened to fandom-specific recipients on a repeated basis without any other post content.

[HIATUS]
Players are allowed to take hiatus for up to 1 month at a time, provided they post in the Hiatus Post to announce the hiatus. If additional time is needed, you must speak with a moderator directly. Players may announce their hiatuses in the OOC comm (this is a polite thing to do) but must also give notice on the actual Hiatus Post. Failure to do so may result in your character not being exempted from the usual activity requirements.

[LIMITS]
Insufficient activity on behalf of existing characters may be grounds for the moderators to revoke a player's option to reserve or apply for new characters until the player improves their participation. (Basically, if you can't keep up with the three characters you have, we're not approving you for a fourth and fifth.)

[MOD PLOTS]
From time to time, the moderators will introduce plots which are designed to interact with the entire game. Unless specifically stated, these plots affect all characters and as such, should be acknowledged in-character. They are generally held in the Events comm.

[PLAYER MASS PLOTS]
Players wishing to begin a plot that will affect most or all of the in-game characters must first post an overview for moderator review here before beginning or announcing said plot. This is to prevent instances which may become problematic later. Please remember that other players are under no obligation to participate in these plots unless they choose to, however those choosing not to participate are still encouraged to note such events in their journals for continuity in the game. (Ex; if someone makes all the buildings look like gingerbread houses, it'd be weird to say your character just didn't notice.)

[PLAYER INDIVIDUAL PLOTS]
Individual player plots do not need to be cleared by a moderator unless it meets one of the following criteria: makes substantive changes to the compound (ie, destroying or building something); makes significant or permanent alterations to a character so that it no longer reflects the original application (ie, turning a villain into a happy-fluffy-flower-hippy). More criteria may be added in the future.

Additionally, all players whose characters will be included in these plots must be contacted beforehand and agree to participate before they are added. (Ex. brainwashing a character into thinking they're a ballerina, and then afterwards asking the player if that was okay). Disregarding this rule is grounds for a conduct warning!

[CUT MATERIAL]
To keep the journal and communities from becoming disruptive, please place the following under LJ-cuts: big!font posts, images, videos, excessive swearing, etc. Additionally, if the material is not work-safe, please label it as such outside the cut. For information on how to use LJ-cuts, please read this.

[POSTING ORDER]
Any thread with 3 or more characters should maintain a posting order. This means a round-robin style loop where each player waits their turn, rather than posting on top of one another. This is especially important for players in different timezones and with different schedules. If a player wants to forgo their spot in the posting order (ex; if they're going to bed) then its their responsibility to tell the other players so, either in an OOC comment or over AIM.

[TAGGING]
For information on Tagging, please read this post.
